Hello,
I have been to told to let you all know I am "The high preist of Diafine" or something like that

Brad Walker here, owner of The Darkroom Traditional & (D-word censored) Studios, LLC in Merchantville, NJ. I opened up shop in 2001 and have seen almost all of the old-time Philly area places shut down. Times are changing.

Speaking of which, I'm sure by now it is old news (I found out yesterday) but Kodak has officially told analog folks to bugger off (well, not in those exact words) and has announced the discontinuance of all B&W papers. So far, film and chemistry is not affected.

Enough of an intro. I'll see y'all in the forums... feel free to stop by for a dog or burger on the ol' BBQ anytime.

-Brad

I think there are enough of us stubborn dinosaurs to keep things intact until the film revival takes place

If it makes you feel any better News.com a techie site has an interesting article about a photo journalist dumping digital and going back to a Graflex. He claimed since all the journalists use basically the same digital camera, that all the work looks identical and nothing stands out. Sounds like he's in great demand now since his work offers such a unique look..

I know Brad and know his store. I have used his rental darkroom many times when I was in the area. It was also the first place I saw an image appear in the developer. Thank you for that.

Besides the mushy reminiscings, Brad does sell all sorts of analog stuff, much more that my local Calumet in NYC. It is safe to say that you hardly notice the Digit.. stuff in his shop. Welcome.

Certainly... from www.thedarkroomstudios.com click on "supplies" or you can log onto www.dadaphotographics.com directly (I purchased them a year ago). For those looking for "odd" stuff just ask... I am in the never-ending process of updating the product listings. Sorry, no more Konica IR and I'm also out of #3.

welcome!

Brad,

Welcome to a nice community, from someone who lived in Pennsauken (about 40
years ago). Cripes, phrases like "40 years ago" are becoming common in my
speech :-(.

Cheers, Bill H.

Welcome. Your in good company - the only battery (cell) I have is in my light meter. That's how ancient I am.

Well. at 29, it'll be a while before I can say "40 years ago, when I was a young man... we had these things called enlargers...) lol Pennsauken? Nice town, trying to revitalize the waterfront right now, we shall see.

I would add that some of my flash equipment also has batteries, and some of that equipment may be getting close to 40 years old too!

I know why I don't use flash powder!

I have a recipe which comes with a warning about five times as long as the mixing instructions. With my knowledge of both chemistry and explosives, I have no wish to see flash powder up close.

I definitely don't want to be mailing flash powder or storing it in my apartment.

Lol,
Sorry Bob... you told me when I had John in the shop, need I say more??? Looks like the Asbury Park meeting went well, I thought of coming up but I had a family thing in Avalon in the AM and the prospect of a 2-hour drive wasn't filling me with joy  Yes, Rodinal and APX, what a combo.
