Just wondering how to tell when a batch of HCA is hatched.
I mix it fresh 1:4 from a prepared stock solution.
I notice after a few prints it turns purple ... is this normal?
I use it only when processing fibre papers, i.e., Ilford MG 4 and Art 300
Thanks

I use Permawash and do it a little different. I always mix it from the concentrate just before I use it. I do the prints from the day as a single batch then toss it.

Never had the HCA turn purple from prints unless they are coming direct from a toner. Get a little color from the dyes in film. But always keep it fresh,it goes bad after a certain amount of time and use.
