BTW it's hard to tell by looking at an inverted scan, but I don't get the impression that this is overexposed. You've got tone and detail in many of the darker areas on the pumpjack. It seems just about perfect to me. With a paper negative, you're never going to get details of clouds in the sky and also in the shadows on a bright day. Often it's best to let the sky blow out and do the best you can with the subject. If you look at prints from the early part of the 20th century, they often have this same compromise...and in my opinion it can be a positive and provide atmosphere.
