This is ridiculous. They're asking price is more than our home was.

You don't have to be smart to be rich; so there's a market for everyone...

ah... so it's making it's way through the dumb rich collectors, each one making a few extra thousand until it reaches the grand poombah of them all. I wonder what his buying price will be.

I know a guy who has a massive camera collection - and he doesn't use them (but he used to use a camera, years ago). He tends not to spend outrageous money on them. From what he's said, there are very rich collectors in Hong Kong and Singapore that pay the highest prices - and they want cameras without even the slightest scratch. This colourful Mamiya might be too beat up for them.

HA! Even if I had that kind of money, I would hope that I would still feel some sort of guilt for spending it on something like a camera and not a starving third world country or something.

Reminds me of the mid-late 1980's here, when "Japan, Inc." was the buzz-phrase. At the time, the Japanese collectors were after pristine Nikons, Leicas, Canons, etc. They had agents who attended the local camera shows, and those agents would pay premium prices for certain cameras. They paid in cash, and the cameras were shipped to Japan with days. Some years later, a lot of of those same cameras emerged on eBay, when the prices plummeted for film in light of the burgeoning digital market.

Today, it looks as though the markets have shifted a bit to the Asian mainland.

The problem is that the the people with that kind of money DO NOT feel guilty like you would.

Old joke- guy had a pair of old sneakers on a cardboard box in New York City. Someone asked him how much. He said, "One million dollars." "$1 million?? You're nuts!" "Maybe, but I only need to make one sale."

At least its not a sports autograph or anything RAP related... so in a sense its not a bad thing to get.

My concern is it doesnt come with the factory shoulder strap. That should knock another 20% off

I figured it out. The camera cost $ 800. The can of paint cost $49,200. Then there's the shipping charge. Wonder if they do custom colors to match women's shoes?

Not the most silly I’ve seen. There was some clown on ebay that listed a Minolta 16II for a BIN of......
$999.00! Probably was looking for the one out of a million who would be dumb enough to bite.

No matter what kind of money you have, you are a special kind of stupid if you are even contemplating considering this sort of thing.
That is why eBay is not a price catalog for the rest of the world. There is always someone stupid and decadent enough somewhere in the world to pay just about any price.
Problem is even (read especially) filthy rich people also gets buyers remorse and find things to complain about, and eBay always takes the buyers side.

I did once complain about the finest Corinthian leather in my Chrysler LeBaron.
