Yep, you've gussed it I've been playing again but I can't find any times for HP5+ rated @ 200 in Rodinal.

From what I've found already it looks like it will need a 1+100 dilution, but your valued experience and suggestions are once again very welcome.

Kind regards Tony

That is a 1 stop overexposure?
IMHO If I were using 11min @1+50 (as per digitaltruth) for 400, I'd go with 8 minutes @1+50 for 200

A quick search in google showed this:

AGFA considers 0.65 to be the normal contrast index. HP5+ will not reach that CI in Rodinal 1+50. Their table for HP5+ in Rodinal 1+100 specifies reduced CI.

Most of us consider 0.65 to be on the high side of normal, especially those who use condenser enlargers.

I have found the maximum CI of HP5+ in Rodinal 1+50 to be about 0.61. If you try to go beyond that, you get more base fog.

Oh, 0.65 Ci is kinda high.
Even though HP5 is a low contrast film, 0.61 should be good enough.
I've tried (anmd enjoy) APX-100 in Rodinal with the times they give for CI 0.55

Hello folks,

Sorry I've not been back earlier but not felt too well today due to ye olde dam brain chemicals

I souped the HP5+ at 20C for 8 mins 1+50, filled and inverted during the first 30 seconds and then one inversion every 30 seconds. They are still drying at the moment but dry enough to see they are quite contrasty and as far as I can tell have shadow detail and no blown highlights. Might be a few days before I'm up to printing but I think they are very nearly nailed.

Many thanks for the suggestions and the additional information posted here. I'm frequently pushing HP5+ up to 1600 but for some reason never got around to pulling it. Shows what a good effect being here on APUG has on me

Kind regards Tony
