Hi all. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Alexis (thats Alexis, not Alex and a male so there is no confusion  ) and I currently live in Atlanta, GA. Been in photography for about 33 years, started off shooting and ended that working for the largest commercial photographer in San Francisco then chose a career as a fine art B&W printer. Had a lab in San Francisco for 11 years until 10/2002 when the dot com crash and 9/11 dried up all the work and forced me to close. That and having already moved to Paris, France in 2001 and the commute was a bear. Lived there for 3 years and worked at a lab there doing mostly exhibitions for museums, the Arles and Perpignon festivals and commercial advertising work. Wife transfered here (she's the bread winner) so I'm getting back into it again and offering high-end B&W film dev. and printing up to 8x10 negs and mural printing. Workshops too. My clients are archives (film and glass plates), commercial and fine art photographers (everything from microchips to cars), corporate instalations, advertising agencies, galleries and museums. My approach has always been to achieve the best possible final print from my clients image, through communication with the client on what they want, whats possible and how I see the image being done. Basically "Creatively Exploring Black and White" <---my advertising tag line.

I like the fact that this site is dedicated to silver, and seems to be a mature bunch...unlike another popular photo site which seems to attract childish, illmannered maroons, and which has also been censoring legitimate work, something I totally disagree with.

Anyway paid my dues/fee because I believe in the site and what it can contribute to silver.

Glad to be here. Don't hesitate to ask me questions directly. It might take some time to reply but I will reply to all as time allows.

Welcome Alexis, from the west coast of Canada.

Welcome Alexis!

It is great to have you here. This is a wonderful place and gets better by the day with people like you joining in.

Enjoy!

Bill

Good to have you here Alexis.

Welcome from Michigan.

Welcome Alexis! And thanks for joining the fun. With your experience you are sure to be a terrific source of information, so be prepared to have your brain picked clean. Watch out for the Sand Box - AKA Soap Box - lots of critters leave a lot of disgusting poop in there; but when it comes to photography it would be damn near impossible to find a more pleasant or helpful group of folks.

Thanks everyone...I feel so warm and fuzzy inside already. :D

Welcome from Saskatchewan. I'm a relative newbie too, but the water is nice and warm and the locals are very friendly.

Alexis! A voice out of the night... Remember me?

Glad to see you here.

Welcome from England Alexis.

Welcome Alexis from Hawaii. I hope you enjoy our little community.

I guess it is obvious you don't do color. Too bad...

Hi, Alexis, and welcome. I see one of your client photographers is Jeff Spirer, a long time internet photosite aquaintance (who was also a photo buddy of my wife, Susan). I love those small-world moments!

Your interest in traditional photography will certainly find a happy home here. Again...welcome!

Welcome, Alexis. Great to have you aboard.

I am happy to report that my monitor needed no adjustment to view your website!

Kerik! What a blast from the past! Of course I remember you. (tells self he should have bought that print way back when when it was affordable...d'oh!) Been a long time. How's things? Hope you are doing well. You still on pure silver? And is it still alive???

Thanks for the welcome.

Roteaque, never had the interest for some reason. All those damn miniscule color tweak possibilities maybe. :D

Jovo, yeah its a small world. I miss Jeff. Tell him I said hey.

David, Thanks. Glad it didn't either. Could be because I adjusted them on a Mac. Now that I'm on a PC, with a flat screen to boot, its driving me crazy trying to make sure its ok. Glad to hear it is.

Jnanian and John, thanks. Glad you liked it. John, throw a shrimp on the barbie for me...yum!

Thanks again all.

Joe,

I just found out what you were refering to. I guess I'd never scrolled down all the way, so I never saw it before...d'oh.

All that can be said about that "place" is :surprised:
I'm gonna need to get good and drunk before I go in there. Although maybe its NOT a good idea to be drunk and go in there with a loaded weapon...
