I'm trying to help a friend get his Beseler VC67 enlarger up and running (B&H calls it "Printmaker 67 VC"). I sent him a lens and a 4x4 lensboard yesterday, but now I think that lensboard might be too big for his enlarger.

After some googling, it looks like he needs the Beseler lensboard #6723, which looks a bit smaller. Is that right? Is that the only lens board that will fit properly on the VC67?

Can anyone who has that lensboard measure it and give me the exact dimensions in millimeters?

He lives in small town in Taiwan, where it is next-to-impossible to find this sort of thing, so if the lensboard I sent is too big, I was thinking that he could just cut it down to size with a hacksaw if he knew the exact measurements. He's real anxious to start printing.

Can somebody who has a VC67 confirm this for me? I appreciate the help!

I have a Beseler 67 S. Do you think it would be the same?

that's 2.65 inches square, with a 39mm threaded hole?

How thick should it be? Do you think the thickness is critical? I was going to suggest that if he is in a hurry, he could cut a lens board out of masonite or thin plywood.

Thanks.

All the Beseler 67 series enlargers use the same, small lensboards.

The boards are about 2mm thick. The masonite might work, but the spring that holds the board in place is fairly strong.
