How to store old film?

I have a collection of film negatives circa 1912-1915 from a local photographer. Years ago I reprinted them. It occurred to me that I should be concerned with combustion since these probably predate "safety film". Can anyone offer the best method to safely store these?

Thank god for "safety film". It would be interesting if films still said "safety film" on the edge.

What I wish is that they had no edge markings whatsoever!
