How to shrink paper for double pass.

Normally I give the paper I use a 2% oxalic acid pre soak. I was thinking of trying to make a double pass in the same image to increase Dmax (this is just an experiment) so this time I used hot water for the oxalic acid pre soak. Is this good enough to shrink the paper, or do I have to do something else?
