This is probably a simple answer, but I'm just scratching my head trying to figure it out.
I'm trying to replace the light seals on my EF, and to do so I need to remove the film door. I have removed the tiny screw pin on the door but I can't seem to figure out how to actually get the door off.
Lift the leather at the hinge end of the camera body where it meets the hinge. There should be 3-4 screws under it. I believe the hinge is riveted to the door itself.
A little isopropyl alcohol at the edge and gentle pushing/lifting of the leather is all that's needed.
Pliobond or contact cement works to refix it.. If contact cement, apply it to one surface only
When I resealed my EF I had the same problem. When you unscrew that small screw the hinge should slide downward and the door should then come off. I couldn't get the hinge to budge even with WD-40. I didn't want to do damage so what I finally did was just scrape off as much of the old seal near the door as I can and cut the seal just a tiny bit less than if the door was taken off. I haven't had any problems with light leaks.
I did Finally finally get the door off! I put a tiny drop of Wd-40 in there and used a screw driver to push down the top part of the pin. It finally popped open and I was able to get the door off the hinge. Thanks to all who offered tips!
