How to remove the emulsion with the defective print on barite?

I want to use defective prints for alternative prosesses.
1. How to remove the emulsion with the defective print on barite until gelatin ?
2. How to remove the emulsion with the defective print on barite with gelatin together?

I suggest you purchase uncoated Baryta* paper, if you then need a gelatin coat for an 'alternate' process apply it.

If you don't the answer is 1) Scrape hard and long
2) Scrape harder and longer

* Do not be tempted to buy 'inkjet' Baryta paper A ) it is coated as well and B ) Many products advertised as Baryta are not photo Baryta paper at all.

I don't know how you do it for B&W paper, but with color slide film (which is as properly hardened as Ilford B&W materials) dilute Hydrogen Peroxide wipes off the whole emulsion in no time. Similar reports exist about chlorine bleach.

On barytated paper there will be no gelatin underlayer. And even if it was, you would not get off the emulsion layer without the underlayer.

Use bleach and fixer from colour processing to remove the silver image.

hi

the only time i have been able to lift emulsion is
1 - when i used polaroid products and soaked the print
in warm water so the emulsion let go from the substrate.
and
2 - when i use glass plates and the gelatin in the hand coated
emulsion didin't bind to the plate, so it lifted off the glass.

you might have trouble getting the emulsion free from regular photo paper,
it is stuck on there pretty good ...

It can be done with resin coated paper by soaking in near boiling water for several minutes, then pealing the top plastic coating and emulsion layer from the base paper.
