How to Process Expired Fuji 1600?

How should I process Fuji 1600, expired in 2011 and shot at ISO 800? Thanks for your help.

I've never used Fuji 1600, but there are several threads here on photrio, which deal with expired film in general. Add to these instructions the fact, that fast films typically age much worse than slow film. Since we don't know, how the film was stored, you're pretty much on your own here with this roll. You might well get the combination of ISO 1600 grain with a real speed of 400 or less. Or you may be lucky, the film was stored well, you you will not see much difference to fresh film.

I get you'll have to try and see what happens.

I assume you refer to Neopan 1600. It was never ISO=1600 in the first place, more like at least a stop less.

You could try Xtol or something like that. Alternatively you could delve into the various posts around the place to eke out some better results, anti-fog etc. If it's just one roll it might not be worth the trouble.

If it hasn't yet been exposed, I'd try some extra exposure, maybe ISO=250.

ah right, I was thinking of Fujicolor 1600, but that probably wasn't around anymore in 2011, so Neopan 1600 makes more sense.

it was indeed lower ISO (around 640), but the upshot is that it keeps better than high IsO color film.

I'd probably use XTOL too, with slightly extended developing times.
trying to reduce the fog will probably also lose some shadow detail, so unless you have some rolls to run tests a bit risky.

You could get Fuji Superia 1600 up to about 2016 or so. I suspect Neopan 1600 disappeared earlier but that’s only supposition. I got back into film in 2016 and was able to buy some of the Superia 1600 but I never saw the Neopan for sale at that time.
