how to prevent other facebook user to modify my photos and post them on their wall

Not sure if it is the right venue but i need some advice.
I have noticed on facebook these last few days that some other users have modified some of my pics for their own end and posted them on their post. Do you guys know if there is a way to prevent that.
The facebook help is hopeless.

Really? Who does that haha. Well if its your facebook, its your friend or acquaintance, just message them and ask them to please take them down. You can even ask them on their wall to make it more noticeable to future people not to change your work. If they are a bother, each picture has a link under it to report it, never clicked it but it might work. And after all this, just either block that person from viewing your images, unfriend, or dont put out images into public without a watermark. Creative commons used to have a fb widget that assigned rights to your photos, and prevent facebook misuse(by facebook as their terms allowed any reuse of photos, wall posts, etc. by the user, for whatever facebook wished), but it doesnt work anymore, so I just copy and pasted the text into my about, simple as that.

anytime you put any photo anywhere on the internet, you are open to this kind of abuse as well as outright theft. There really isn't much you can do except don't post your "work" on the internet.

pot your work rez'ed down as much as you can
( using save for the web and a small dimension ( 4x6 &c. ) ?

have your name written through the image, or a "©" through the image as a watermark ?

tell your "friends" not to do what they are doing ?

in your description of your image write in all caps " do not copy, steal or alter my work " ?

post on your wall that you are not happy that people are abusing your trust ?

remove your fessbook account ?

i'd just splatter your name across your work, and make it a PITA for people to
alter it ..

If you are determined to post online (fb or elsewhere), the only real answer is a low resolution image with a BIG, honking watermark that clearly ID's you as the photog and ruins the image for any use beyond viewing online. I am headed this direction myself but it's hard to look at my own images that way. I've had a few of the musicians I've photographed (re)post photos in ways I would prefer they didn't... which is slightly ironic.

In current culture of "if you didn't prevent me from doing it, it's your fault," the only thing you can really do is not post anything you wouldn't want copied. No matter what you do, there are always ways to copy it. You could degrade the image or mutilate it so far that it's meaningless to do so but then what's the point in posting images then...?

I guess the only way this can happen is if your 'friends' have taken your photos, or your profile page is open to everyone, or if you post your photos onto a group. You could report it to facebook but I'll bet you won't even get a response. You could send a message to the user who is doing it and they may pull the photo, or if they're a Kid they may give you a mouthful. The problem with facebook is if you want to promote yourself there you need your profile to be open so people can see it and you need to show photos which can then be stolen.

2) If you insist on posting your photographs, post them a very low resolution with either a large watermark or even better with a wide diagonal white or black line from corner to corner.

Actually, it's not. When you post your images to facebook, you grant Facebook full usage rights to your photos, including the right for others to use your photo.
