I have a Sony A6000 and Nikkor DX lenses I use with a manual adapter. I bought these not realizing the lenses need power for image stabilization (VR) to function.

Is there a hack to add 'dumb' power to the lenses so VR works or do the lenses need communication with the camera for VR to work?

Unless your adaptor is a smart adaptor designed to interface with Sony don't think it the lens and body can communicate. Not sure why Sony moved the VR funtion from the body to the lens, the A mount the VR is the body. The new Nikon Z bodies, just the opposite. Nikon moved the VR from the lens to the body.

Thanks Paul. After posting this, I decided I wouldn't want to hack this thing anyway. So... I guess I'll be selling the Sony body and buying a Nikon soon.
