Hi everyone here.
I would like to know how to make my darkroom really dark.
I have alaundryy room in the roof of the building. The door dont close very well. I tried with different materials but I always take more than 45 minutes to make it really dark.

Any suggestion?

p.s. Thanks for all the information that I always get here and sorry about my english....

A good start would be to buy some vinyl pond lining material. It is thick enough to use as a blackout. You could use the pond liner on all the walls and the roof of the laundry room. You could also make a big curtain or flap for the door.

Simplest is probably to use a dark curtain material (two layers if you can not get totally light-proof material). Use a strip of Velcro above the door and at a few points down the sides and sew the other half of the Velcro to the material. Make the material 10cm or more longer than necessary so it seals the bottom of the door. Make the material overlap the door edges by as much as possible to help keep the light out.

Good luck, Bob.

P.S. Your English is fine!

Thanks guys.... I will try the velcro sistem. But today I`ll wait till the night to start working.....

my darkrooms have never been completely dark &i've never had a problem - i've loaded 3200/1600 speed film onto reels &C&C&C ... never had a problem with it not being dark enough ... but if you need dark - fabric store&black felt might help.

Wierd thing today I saw a poster for a Toto Filmfest :D

I find that spray foam insulation is a miracle cure for small areas, cracks, etc. Helps if you own the place and can make a little mess without anyone caring.
