I believe I have two 45⁰ prism eyecups in my kit, and I've thought about making a reusable mold of one, so I don't have to hunt one up in an increasingly smaller market presence, just make my own.
I've already considered using a well fitting "O" ring, glued to that section on the eyepiece that will position or 'lock' the rubber section to the prism groove and more secularly give it a mount.
Since a flat on each side of the "O" ring will allow a better fit, I suppose I can always wet mount a wet/dry abrasive sheet to a piece of plate glass, by using a "necklace" of appropriate super glue dots around one side of O ring and mount it to a piece of tile or plate glass, for abrading the far side into a flatter geometry ( the necklace glue application will be a more durable fixture than a continuous ring of glue will be and not leave a hard and brittle ring to deal with latter.
Once the flat is worn into the "O" ring on one side, take a second tile or plate glass block and, after making a second necklace of glue dots on the flattened side and affix it to the ring.
With the first flat side is in place, on the bottom of the two plates, use a syringe, piplet, or very thin horsehair brush or wool yarn to move or brush super glue solvent on the lower side to release it from the original tile or glass plate.
When washed and dried the still rounded side that is now exposed, is also given the same treatment the first flat required.
Remove from block when done and wash and dry the rubber or silicon ring one last time.
Once you've positioned the ring on the eyepiece, make one more necklace of glue dots inside the mounting groove and drop the flat edge of either side of the ring into the ready groove, for a snug fit to the prism.
