How to get warmer tone from Ilford MGIV FB Matte paper?

I'm using Ilford MGIV FB matte paper, developed in selectol soft diluted 1:1. I love the surface of the paper for hand coloring, it takes pencils very well. However, I recently used some agfa 111 paper in selectol 1:1, and I really liked the warmer tones of that paper. I still have over 100 11X14 sheets of the ilford, so I'm wondering if I change to a true warmtone developer if I can get warmer tones with the ilford. Any recommendations?

I would change papers before developers, standard ILFORD MGIV paper doesn't change much between developers . The ILFORD warmtone fibre base paper should give you warmtones. You could also try the Fomatone series of papers. Developers can still make a difference. Only by indirect toning, as Tom says it's not a warm tone paper. You can get warm tones from a Bromide paper.

Both good advice, which I can only agree with.

Regular MGIV paper can be lightly sepia toned for warmth. I use the Ilford WT developer and it's very nice, but I don't think it will make a huge difference on regular paper. On Ilford's WT FB paper it's very pleasing.

Agreed. The developer will make virtually no difference with that paper. It responds really nicely to light sepia or thiocarbimide toning, though.

Agreed, and I was given about 200 sheets of 11x14 for free, so I would love some way to get a warmer tone to it. I didn't really notice the cooler tone of MGIV untill i printed the same image on some agfa 111 paper, and I just loved the warmer tones with the particular image.

Yep, that would be nice - this stuff just doesn't have quite enough tooth to really take the paint the way I would like it to...
