I shot some very expired Tri-X. I regret not giving it more exposure than I did; I shot it EI 320, but probably should have run it at EI 160 and then pushed at least a stop in processing.
The film is the old style packaging, with the green stripes, and the canister does not have the HDPE #2 recycling logo on the bottom! Any idea how old it is?
I want to develop it to get usable negs. My questions are:
How many stops should I push it? I was thinking of pushing to EI 1600. Is that likely to be sufficient? Could 3 stops potentially ruin the highlights?
Developer is Ilfotec HC
Feel free to suggest a better developer for this sort of thing. But I don't like using powder developers that have to be mixed.
The roll looks like the upper right one in this pic: http://i14.ebayimg.com/02/i/001/16/b1/6dcf_1.JPG
Oh, and it was likely not stored frozen. I know some of you are good at this sort of challenge, and I'd appreciate your insight nto making this old, fogged Tri-X come out.
Thanks!
P.S. I googled up this thread on stand development using Rodinal: http://www.flickr.com/groups/rodinal/discuss/72157607974326039/
