Hey folks,

I bought the ondu 6x12 multiformat camera 2 years ago.

I didn’t use it often as the image didn’t show the sharpness I wanted as well compared to other pinhole cameras.

But as I was looking through the ondu website, I saw that the pinhole size was changed from 0.3 to 0.25 and the image sharpness was better.

After a while, I realised I needed two guide pins and asked ondu how I could get these and if they knew how to change the pinhole size to 0.25 for my camera.

They replied saying they would be able to send the guide pins for free but haven’t gotten a reply since. This was over two weeks ago. I am a bit disappointed.

Does anyone know how I could get guide pins ?

Also how can I change the pinhole size of a ondu camera?

Thanks.

Hi Andrew, I'm not actually sure what you are asking for, when you say a 'guide pin'?

As for being told that they would send some for free, I would wait another week or two before doing anything else. Remember, the whole world's mail system, along with companies staffing numbers, seem to be all over the place at the moment and even local to local-ish items seem to take an age to arrive, and I'm saying this form my own experience. So, I would do that, and if you still haven't received anything, a polite reminder email request, followed by a thank you once you've received anything usually does the job.

Some (most?) wood pinhole cameras built for sale have the pinhole sheet captured with glued-in wood parts. Changing the pinhole is likely to be a major operation. Making it larger, less so (very, very careful redrilling in place might work, but wouldn't absolutely require disassembling glued joints), but making the hole smaller means replacing the shim stock sheet.

Not familiar with Ondu but how do they make a pinhole camera with wrong pinhole size is odd to say the least, especially since information how to get it right is everywhere. Remember that changing hole to film distance will do the same thing to sharpness as both are interrelated.
