I'm 49. Started photography at 14 with a Dacora 620 folder. Moved into 35mm with Fuji, Pracktica, Miranda( G and Sensorex), Nikon F Tn, Contax 159, then Nikon FE for many years. Around 2007 I went autofocus with Nikon F80s. I now have several Nikon auto and manual focus SLRs. I have dabbled in MF with Lubitel, Seagull and Rollei TLRs, but am taking it more seriously now with a Bronica SQaM. I have no experience of digital. I think it is very funny when you see quite modern cameras sold as 'vintage' or 'retro' simply because they use film. They are 'state of the art' technology to me! Alex

I'm 40, and I've been shooting analog for, what I dunno... five years? I started with medium format, added 35mm, then large format. I favored medium format in my Mamiya C330 for a long time but I've more recently discovered the joy of taking many more photos simply by virtue of having a Yashica T4 that I can take everywhere. The processing of 35mm is the easiest for me, too, so I do it more often. I know before it's all done I'll be doing tintypes or something. But I'm really enjoying the journey.

Wow and I thought that I was too short for my weight! I am much taller than the people in 35mm land. Imagine being only 35mm tall! OMG!!

We have more than 64,000 members of APUG and only 321 have replied to this poll, so I wouldn't set much store by the conclusions.

Good morning;

Matt King can ask some embarrassing questions, but then, he has been trained to do that. I know what he used to do for his work.

And, I have already participated in the poll. What can I say? I have an excessive accumulation of years.

Age 63, (chronologically, at least).

First REAL camera in 1966, age 16: Minolta Autocord CDS TLR. I then 'graduated' to 35mm with the Canon AE-1 in 1978. Less time hoping for acceptable light, able to 'finally' change focal lengths. Never looked back. Only regrets: wish that it did 18 X 24format. - David Lyga

Ralph,

We all have participated in the pole (yes, I misspelled it on purpose)... ;-) Age is a state of mind anyway.

I'm 3 score and 3 (that translates to 63 for the digitally impaired) and I've been shooting 35mm since I was 16. Shoot 120 on Yashica Mat 124G since I was 23.
Burk & James "Rembrandt"Portrait View 4x5 large format since I was 30.

Most of my 120 is now on my Bronica ETRSi kit that includes 50, 75, 150, and 250mm lenses (Full kit bought piece by piece over the last 8-10 mo.

My 35mm shooting is now mostly on Nikon N90s & 24-105 Zoom
I do still use my Minoltas (Dynax 7000i, SRT101, X570, XG-1 & XG-M), my Pentax Spotmatic and Yashica Electro 35. I Also have a N90 without the "s" I bought to get the MF-26 back to put on the N90s! N90 still works fine with back from the "s".

Did I mention I have a (EEK!) Sony A-100 digital that uses my Minolta auto focus lenses? It is no longer my "out and about" choice.

Regards and happy (camera) shooting

i'm 84 yrs old and still using film. My first 35mm was an argus a which went with me to the Amchitka and Adak, Alaska

for a years tour there. my cameras now include Pentax, Olympus, and Rollei. Shooting more b and w now and process

that myself. Hope to be able to continue for awhile longer.

Glad to see so many young photographers going to film.
