In another thread it was mentioned that at least two people were going to go print tonight...as am I.

While my Kallitype is exposing, I was just wondering how many others were printing tonight.

Then I got to wonderin' how often folks here print in general.

Me? I am printing probably 3-4 nights a week, and am printing Kallitypes exclusively.

Just curious...that's all.

Sometimes i only get to print once every couple months depending on how busy i am with work. Earlier this year i worked straight for 4 months and never got a day in. I'm addicted to 16x20's so it takes some time with setup an washing, etc.

I don't have my own darkroom, I print at the local community college. The darkroom is only open on Saturdays between 9:00 and 3:00 and on Thursdays between 6:30 and 10:00 so at best I can only print twice a week. I usually try to make both days, but occasionally can't make one or the other.

Not as much as I'd like to...

And in the past 8 months not at all because first we moved, then I started building a darkroom from the ground up as a new outbuilding at the house we bought, and it isn't finished yet. But cross your fingers, I'm hoping to finish it in the next two weeks...

Same here - it's been 6 months. We also moved and I'm having to start from scratch. The good news is that my BIG (to me) new darkroom is coming right along. All the plumbing is run and the floor is almost ready to seal.

I get a printing session in about once every couple of months. I develop film every couple of weeks. I hope to increase the frequency of both once my children are grown.

Not as often as I'd like. Setting up to do it is a chore and sometimes I just don't feel like doing it. However, I am also in the midst of trying to declutter my living room (where I do my printing) and office (where I'd like to be able to do my printing) so I hope to finish by Christmas. Of course, developing film is a similar chore, but once the Jobo is loaded, it's not so bad.

Sadly, I have too many irons in the fire. I haven't had a chance to get in the darkroom for over three months. I also haven't had a chance to do much photography in that time either. It's frustrating but there's not much I can do about it right now.

At the moment almost every night. But then it is still new and exciting to me and I'm learning more each day. Currently learning to dodge and burn.

I print as often as I can, presuming I have something worth printing.
After far too many years working in the photo biz (photographer, darkroom tech, camara stores, you name it) I'm finally semi-retired and NOT working in photography. I could print every day if I wanted to, but I like to go out and shoot sometimes, too. Dean

Whenever I have to. Most of my work is project based, so unless I have a reason to do so, I don't print. Usually I will have a "warm up" project to iron out various process issues before I do a major project. I might do two or three projects a year.

I have a similar approach as Joe. Generally I would print whenever required and then for projects.

But having just returned from a trip I have a lot of film to process and images to sort and print, so presently printing for roughly 8-10 hour days.

I'm very happy if I get to be in the darkroom once a week. I can always find something I want to print. I shoot lots more than I have the chance to print.

I enjoy and evening in the darkroom. I have been in the mood for a nice, long, relaxing printing session but don't feel like revisiting old negatives. I have to shoot some more film in the studio or field in the next couple of days just so that I have an excuse to print. My new,old D2 and its 4x5 capability is still novel for me so my view camera is already in the car.

I am printing six days of the week. I love working in the darkrooms so even though it is my job I am quite happy making prints.
Now I am printing more personal work and I am thrilled with this.

Whenever I need to, even if sometimes it's just to run off contact sheets for film identification.

For me, it's about once every three weeks at the moment. But we have a young baby, so it is difficult to find the time. When I do get in there, I remember how much I miss it, but I don't spend as much time in there per session. Nowadays it's probably only about two hours. But I do find that I've become much more efficient in the darkroom. The postcard exchange has helped that quite a bit...so has the baby.

In the last two weeks I've been printing in the darkroom 6 times. Developing film two times. This is average for this time of the year. During really hot weather January through to early March I print during cool spells.

I suppose on average, about 1½ times a week through a whole year.

I print 3 days of the week at work (I work for a Community College) but the gang darkroom thing is just not working out. People are too fast and loose with the chemicals and too often the fixer and developer get exhausted before they get changed. I am building a temporary setup in a bathroom so that I can print when I want and use the can normaly the rest of the time. Once that is done, I plan to print about the same amount of time as I do now, just with a lot less frustration!
