How much weight can a Beseler Color rotary base handle?

This is totally unrelated to photography, so please forgive me mods, but I looked everywhere and couldn't find an answer, so I figured someone here was most likely to know.

I have a Beseler Color deluxe rotary base that I use with 8x10 tubes for developing my sheet film. Works great.

I have a totally unrelated hobby of reloading ammo, and am in the market for a brass tumbling machine. I figured unless weight was a problem, I could build a DIY PVC pipe tube and use the rotary base to spin my brass and polish for 2 hours or so at a time without issue. I suspect the entire tube with brass, media, everything in it will weigh no more than about 2 lbs max. Does this sound like it would be a problem?

I use a couple of different rotary agitators. At one point in my process I rotate a Paterson 3x135 roll tank with one litre of developer in it using the agitator. One litre is about 2.2 pounds.
Long term use with heavy weight may cause more wear.

Go to www.harborfreight.com and enter "rock tumbler" into the search window. They always have these-beseler and unicolor motor bases are getting scarce and costly.

I think you may be underestimating the final weight.
How large a tube are you thinking of?

I think you will need to modify the inside of the tube to add ribs, so that it catches and rotates/tumbles the shells + polishing media. Otherwise it would just slide, rather than tumble.

The other option is a rock/stone tumbler, which isn't much different in price from a case tumbler

I bought a tumbler from Midway 10 years ago. Pretty cheap and still works great.

I use a liter of chemicals in my Jobo Expert Drum 3005 (five 8x10 negatives) on a Beseler and Unicolor motor bases -- that's well over 2 pounds.

Why not fill one up and gently put it on there too see how it bends or not without putting the whole weight on there.
