As costs ever increases I thought about the costs. Got some Provia and some years ago it was nearly half to what it is now. Numerically even 10 rolls a year add up esp color film with a lab that processes it for you. I have also wondered in the many years what happens to them when the other generation takes over my photographs and if they do anything with it or would they just throw them away.

Why oh why did you make me look:wink: The total came to $370-ish

To be fair that includes quite a bit that will be left over to next year so next year should be cheaper. Most of that cost was ordering 20 rolls of film early in the year and eight or nine rolls of 8mm movie film. It also includes an order I will place for yet more film and fixer. I started making my own developer so that saves a little money. I ordered Metol from the Ukraine which is cheap and works just fine. Then I use the Arista films (100 ISO 120 usually) and Fomalux 312 which is one of the cheapest papers out there. I can develop my own movie film. I am happy with the results. It seems like all hobbies have something in common, the more you learn from others what to look for the more money you will spend on chasing magic bullets.

But I must remember that as an intern that is something like four days of pay. I guess it isn't much money at all if you consider photography to be one of my main hobbies. It isn't like building a hot rod where it all can be lost in a split second. Some people get a new cell phone every year for twice as much money. I am completely fine with it.

A little bit more than $7,000 pa on lab-requisitioned RA-4/giclée prints (no lab work required in post), then about half that again for matting and framing (predominantly just matting from this year).

Nothing spent on any film stock this year as deep-frozen film is being used up.
