Are you serious? no good? in what way? I'll take it all, I love old film! I have some C-41 from the 2000's that I've tested and is good and I'll trade you for your old frozen film... seriously

Give half to Stone and half to me!! I have C-41 that expired in '93 and is as good as new, and some that expired in '87 that's still useable. You'd be surprised at how long it can last if refrigerated.

I also have some Ilford b&w that expired in 1964 and has no base fog whatsoever.

No, instead I've taken the responsibility to stimulate the economy in the film sector and that's definitely not the same. The nice side effect is that I will not run out of film the next couple of years. But it doesn't mean that I will not stimulate the economy more within the same period.

I've got about 700+ sheets of HP5+ and 300 rolls of Tri-X 400 in 120, I don't think that's hoarding.

at what time were this films bought.
I can only answer to me .
The very first 2002
The most 2004-2008
Just look to some remaining films now -
and just look on todays prices !

I only stockpile for films that I love to use and are being discontinued. Stockpiling is dangerous, otherwise. We all need to keep buying the stuff.

Seriously, the number is way higher than estimates could predict.
Camera and film hoarders are, for the most part, secretive about their affliction.

Heck, we don't even tell our wives.

Case in point: I have a beer fridge. I quit drinking 5 years ago

I can't see the point of stock-piling or hoarding film just for the sake of it. I keep a good working stock of the films which I use regularly and which are still available, and have stocked-up with a few films at the time were discontinued, e.g. Ektachrome, Astia, Plus-X (all of which I used and liked). Overall, I have enough film to last me perhaps 3-4 years maximum on present usage, and tend to replenish as-and-when I see any good deals. (Just noticed that this is an ancient thread...to which I replied at the time! At least my views and habits haven't changed with age, lol.)

One does not stock piling film or hording film for the sake of it. One stock piles film or hoards film for several good reasons. Two of which are:
  1. Keeping a supply of films that have been discontinued.
  2. Keeping the film from the hoarders.
