How many enlargers do you have?

Two- a Beseler 23C (black) with Dichro head, and a Beseler 45M(x? not sure of the variant - later model blue chassis... came with the condenser head and the Resistrol unit) with the analog version of the modern 45 Dichro head (the one that doesn't need hoses and a separate fan unit for cooling, but still sets the filters via dials, not buttons). I'm willing to let the 23c go to a good home to free up some space to rebuild my darkroom... I'm going to remove the enlarger stand with the drop platform I built, and re-design it to handle the 45M, so I can put my drying screens up off the floor and out of the hall. And have a proper area (under the drying screens) for my UV lightbox (does the UV lightbox count as an enlarger? I'm doing Pt/Pd with it, which isn't technically enlarging, but it is a printing device after a fashion!)

4: An Omega D5, a D2, an Elwood 5x7 and a Vivitar 35mm. Good thing I just donated the Durst 35mm, 5 might be considered excessive!

I have two - a Durst AC800 for color printing up to 6x9 and a Durst L138S. The AC800 has three lenses (Rodagon 50,80 &105mm) and carrier inserts for 35mm to 6x9 as well as the Widelux negatives. The 5x7 enlarger has a full set of condensers and lenses for 35mm to 5x7. It is pretty well fully fitted out with condensers, lenses, Nega 138 carrier, LAPFE carriers and the LADANE 138 for roll film up to 70mm. It also has a Condit 4x5 pin registration carrier, punch and an oil immersion carrier as well as the filter wheel for colour separations. It is an incredible enlarger to use.

Fun thread.

I've got two, but only enough space to use one at a time. The one in use is a Beseler 45MX with an Aristo cold light head. I've also got a Beseler/Minolta 45A head for it, which I'd like to try using, but it needs parts which the budget doesn't currently support. The one in storage is a Beseler 23CII with condenser head. The best part of that one was the price - free! It's in cherry condition too; apparently my uncle used it very little, which is why he gave it to me.

I have an L1200 and a small Bessler 23 (?) B/W with a condenser head that I'll gladly trade for another L1200.

The first two I ever owned (real amateur type stuff) are long gone. I actually dont remember what happened to them.

Next came a Lucky, made by Fujimoto. Still have it, but in all the moves it made, the column went missing. Ive used it with a replacement (piece of pipe), but its never been the same.

I also got a urge in the 70s to print color, so I bought a Chromega B. Still have it.

About ten years ago, I was in a camera shop and they had a used Omega B22 for $25. Hey, I might have a neg or two that needed condensers, and all the carriers from the Chromega fit, so

But, it was ironically missing a condenser. In yet another local store (this was back when camera stores actually carried stuff remember?) I found another B22 missing its baseboard and filter drawer. I asked to buy a condenser out of it, and the owner said no, but I could have the whole thing if I would just take it away.

So, my darkroom had the B22 and the Chromega. The spare B22 always sitting there waiting for me to use it as a copy stand, since I had bought the adapter and could easily make a baseboard, but just never have.:rolleyes:

Then came APUG. Another member says: Hey David, do you need a 4x5 enlarger? I have one Ill sell you for (cheap) How can I pass up that price?

So, I have three and most of two others.

Two, a Beseler 23C and a Beseler 45MX that I just picked up for $125 with a Saunders 11x14 four blade easel. A good deal I think. Had to clean it up a bit and have not used it yet but it looks good. No space in the darkroom for two at this time but I am in negoations with the wife for more space.

Well we got the Durst m605 diffuser... Was quite happy with that, then I thought maybe a condenser would be nice - why not they're cheap, so I got an m605 condensor. The thinking being they're different enough to be usefull, but similar enough to swap parts for spares and such...

Then someone offered me a 5x4 LPL enlarger at a reasonable price, and I though why not? Unfortunatly having payed a reasonable price, two months later someone else asked me to take away a devere 504... I couldn't very well say no so, there's another 5x4 enlarger sitting in the hallway! I REALLY don't need 2 LF enlargers, but what could I do???

I'm surprised no one caught this one. It should be a Saunders LPL 4500II, not an Omega - I had an Omega C700 at one time, but sold it when I bought the Saunders.

Set up in my darkroom a Zone VI Type 2 with a 5x7 VC head and an 8x10 cold light head. Not set up but not sold yet (pending my being sure I want to continue with formats larger than 4x5) a Saunders 4500, --I love this thing. Also, purchased in a fit of '60s nostalgia, a Focomat 1c, not set up (I will get around to selling this sooner or later). njb

Two for me, too. Zone VI Type II VC 5x7 and a Besseler Dichro 67SC. Both of them packed away until such time as the new improved darkroom comes online - hopefully within the next month or two. Just gotta get the cabinets and counters in...

I have two, a Durst 1200 with a dichro head and Leitz V35 also with a color head. I also have a bare lightbulb hanging from the ceiling for contact prints, but I guess that doesn't count.

Oops. 3 over here but I must admit that I dismantled the Durst M670 last weekend.

So there's only the Opemus 5 (up to 6x6 with color head) and Omega DII (4x5) that are operational.

The total investment in enlargers & enlarging lenses is app. 120 Euro.

Next thing is a UV light source.

One, Agfa Varioscope 60 for 35mm and 120mm with Leitz lenses. I'd like another one though to have one each for 35mm and 120mm setup. Hmm, then thinking of something wallmounted for alternative print work. Hmm, need a bigger shed, hmm, need another shed

There may be a real difference between how many you have and how many you use (and, for that matter, how many you use frequently). When I started doing 4X5, I retired my trusty Beseler 23CII to a corner of the floor and picked up a used 45MXT, which is what I now use regularly for MF and 4X5. It proved inconvenient, however, for 35mm, so I picked up a used Beseler 35 for that. A couple of years ago, I found a real bargain on a DeVere 1010ET, so I grabbed it. The idea was to use it for LF and to return the Beseler 23 to service for everything else. I haven't been able to modify the house to hold the DeVere yet, so it is still sitting in the garage in its shipping crate, complete with rails, If I really look hard I may even be able to find the old, cheap 6X6 I started with about 40 years ago. That gives a count of 2 used more or less regalely and about 5 total.

In use (in contrast to "own") I have three(3): A Focomat Ic, a Durst DA-900 and a Minox Modell-2... and I have a bunch of different heads and lighting options for both the Focomat and Durst (from point source to cold light).. Each has their place.. The miNox, I guess, gets used the least but only because I do the least taking of 8x11 (I seem to do things in waves, right now its overwhelmingly 6x6).

I have 2.... a Beseler 23CII and a Beseler 45M... Both have Zone VI cold light heads. I just got the 45M because I am in the process of moving up to 4X5. Once I get the large one up and running, I "think" (I've had since 1989 and I am really attached to it) that I will retire the 23C; I may hold onto it because I have a dream of teaching classes to beginning photographers and I can use it for that. Otherwise it may find itself in a trade or on EBAY

Only one These days. A De Vere 4x5 free standing with the drop table and colour head. Came with every neg carrier but no lenses.

It runs everything from 35 through to 4x5 and I have had a special carrier for my Horizon panoramic negs made by a friend.

It's heaven!

Just two, a Durst L184 with a dichro and a Beseler 45MXT-XL with a dichro. I only really use the Durst now though, the Beseler is more for back up.
