He actually has a book called "How I Take Photographs".

I have that book and was just looking at it a few days ago. It's more about his process while out taking photos. More about observation and ideas than the technical aspects of photography. A good book.

To Manuel:
Moriyama has a distinctive look, I would expect a stop or two push of the film (underexpose and overdevelop) and then printing at a higher contrast. Probably not all that extreme for either. You could start with Ilford HP5, expose at 800, develop maybe 15% longer than recommended, and print (assuming Ilford multigrade paper) starting with a grade 3 or 3.5 filter. Take notes of what you do. See how close that gets you. If you're not getting the look you want, maybe develop 25% over recommended.

You have three control "knobs" here, how much you underexpose, how much you over develop, and your printing grade. Make little changes and keep notes. Good luck and have fun!
