I do something called Analog Sundays. No cell phone, no screens. The only time I do any digital is if I'm being paid. I might post here once in a while but otherwise, no digital.

I like that. +1

Wow, lot's here. Thanks for the many good ideas and for the interesting social commentary. I agree that i'm very fortunate to have a wonderful family and paying work in such a difficult period. I understand a bit about persistent unemployment, having been layed off for 9 months in '09. Perhaps the "quit your whining" bit is deserved. I watch tv about 2 hours total a week (late night with the missus), so there's a bit of room for sacrifice there. I carry a camera almost always. It's more developing and printing that stalls, rather than taking. Stealing away to the darkroom feels a bit selfish, maybe like stealing from time i should be with family. Maybe i have to just wake very early and find my own time.

Vaughn, your quote is excellent.

Thanks,
Leo

If it keeps you sane, maybe you should do it. But talk it over with your wife first. I'm not currently working, but my son (age 2, just) goes to daycare two days a week so I can have my only "me" time - usually photography related. If it weren't for that, we'd be in pretty bad shape (hubby is deployed and little dude doesn't sleep through the night most nights - I have gotten about 9 good nights of sleep in the last 2 years). I don't know how I'd do any photography if I was working. My problem is that I have sooo many ideas of things I want to try and projects I want to do and only those two days to do them. Chasing Nate and keeping things running in general (did I mention we also have four dogs?) means I'm totally exhausted by the time I get him into bed. I do end up sitting in front of the TV because I can't find the energy to do anything else most of the time.
I just keep telling myself that it won't be exactly like this forever.

Do what I did last year: Cut 3 hours of sleep per night. Work like crazy, printing TONS of prints, Then Get sick. But proud of the outcome :D

Yea, work has been especially busy for me recently, I have taken over two job roles on less than half the time of both jobs.

I used to get to work early, and have a bit of time to stroll and snap away on the route to work, now I can barely drag myself out on time. Bringing work home doesn't help either. And I haven't had time to use the darkroom at home, I just kinda plop down and pass out.

Kinda sucks, but on the plus side, I did get 2 rolls developed tonight, using rodinal stand so I can multi-task. Need to win the lottery.

Nb23, i'm really thinking your solution is the only onr that will work for me. How many hours were you working on and was it really worth it?

Newt, let's both win!
