How do you carry your MF cameras?

By carry I mean, do you use a strap or what? If you use a strap what kind? I have been given a Salyut C (looks like a hassy) by a member of this forum. Is there a way so that when it is slung around your neck the lens points forward, and not downward? It's like the lugs might snap off any moment. Bags will be my last choice, or is it the most practical way of carrying it?

I have a RB67 which I use a bag for most of the time. For short distances I have a strap(don't remember the brand name off hand) and use one hand/forearm under the camera and use the other arm for the tripod.

I have a hippy strap that I swap between my Minolta x-570, Mamiya c33 and zeiss Ikonta 521/16. It works great for all 3.

The strap lugs for the Mamiya 645AF are dead center, so it always hangs level. Kind of awkward, even with my Black Rapid. So usually, no, i don't use a strap.

The blad always hangs with the lens pointing down, which makes sense given the shape of the camera. It would look and feel pretty strange if it hung pointing lens outwards. I use the Hasselblad wide strap and find it very comfortable. Not sure if the Salyut lugs are the same though...

The models I have here are the Kiev-88 and the Kiev-88CM; they are later versions of your Salyut-C.

Yes, it is normal for the lens to hang down. It would require a adjustable strap pivot system to balance the camera each time that you changed lenses, and with many of the lenses, that balance point will be forward of the camera body. This is one of the "features" of an interchangeable lens camera system.

Because I do often use more than one lens, I carry mine in a bag that does have a shoulder strap, although I have also been known to put it all into a Lowe-Pro Computrekker-AW backpack.

RB67 Pro S stays stuck on a tripod that's carried by the slightly extended centre column with legs shortened up--never shoot it handheld. Bronica SQ-B hangs from shoulder or neck with QR plate for quick tripod shots or handheld with a speed grip. Mamiya 645 Super stays stuck to a Manfrotto CF tripod--no strap.

Pelican neck strap for my Mamiya. Lens hangs down. The give of the neck strap material makes it feel lighter than it really is.

When I used to shoot MF, I always carried the camera over my shoulder on a long strap. It is better to support the weight and I never have been one for putting cameras around my neck as I always feel they are in my way.

I use a belt pack for my Rolleiflex. In the "wings" are small pockets which contain filters and closeup lenses.

The baby Linhof hangs from my left hand on its anatomical grip, the Pentax 645 has a factory issue neck strap. Once upon a long time ago, I had a neck strap for the Linhof, it's lost in time now,

On my ETRS I have a strap of unknown origin. It was off a Hitachi video recorder and just has Hitachi stiched into it. Very well made and the strap's metal parts are well away from the camera so not scratching. It must work as I've been using it aboutn 15 years. now and it is showing only minimal signs of wear. The recorder it came off of weighed between 2 and 3 times the Bronica when fully dressed with the metered prism and motor drive.

The "A" clip fits Bronica, Hasselblad, Kiev, and Pentax LX
the "B" clip fits Mamiya, Pentax 645 and Pentax 6X7

If just carrying one (GW670 II or GSW 690 III) I use a Tamrac QR Strap. If lugging both, I put them in a Domke F1 w/a backpack strap.
