How do I re-wash negatives?

Last night I was lazy, and didn't use a wetting agent during my final rinse. I now have streaky deposits left behind as the film was drying. I want/need to re-wash the negatives, but I already cut them into strips.

What's the best way to do this? Should I try and put them back on reels, or should I just pile them into a tank?

Wash them carefully in a dish then assuming they are 35mm use a paperclip half undone to hang each strip up.

It's 120. Hanging will be fun.

Like Ian said, use a tray of the appropriate size.

If you have hard-water stains, a water wash will often not do the trick. If the streaks won't come off easily in water, try a prolonged soak in working-strength acid stop bath before the wash and wetting agent. The acid will often dissolve the deposits.

I'd likely hang using wooden clothespins, one on the top and bottom of each strip. If you're careful, you can get the pins to grip in the non-image part of the film.

120, I've re-washed negatives and used small map pins to hang up.

Rewash with water, then use PhotoFlo or equivalent to sit in for 30 to 60 seconds and hang to dry. Do not run your fingers or a squeegee down the film, but you can use the edge of a paper towel to wick away the excess.
