How do I lube a Bogen/Manfrotto 410 geared head?

I have a Manfrotto 410 geared head. One of the axis is getting pretty stiff. What is the best way to lubricate this, and what should I use?

I found this via the google, but I wouldn't mind a 2nd (or 3rd) opinion.

It's been years since I've owned one but that's how I took mine apart.
the grease looks similar to bearing grease.

I only question I have is why white grease vs #2 grease?
