Is there a general guide to how opaque a clip test ought to be? A friend gave me a bunch of old film the other day and one of them ended up being already exposed. It was a roll of old-style TMX. I developed it for him with some other film for 12.5 minutes in Rodinal 1+50.

The negatives look fine, the highlights do not appear to be blocked up, but the exposed leader had me wondering how dark it should be for a properly developed negative. In this case, it was very dark, but when I held it up to a window, I could see through it, albeit everything was very dim. Is there any guidance here or is it not really a useful metric?

Thanks!

That leader sounds about right to me, and if the negatives are good (properly developed), it is right.
