How can I use lens from Spectra camera in home made projects?

I have a broken Spectra Polaroid Image 2 camera, and I was thinking what I can do with the lens. I was thinking to make a cardboard 4x5 large format camera, for exposure on paper and 4x5" film, later to use it also for wet collodion process. I would focus the lens on the hyperfocal distance (= fixed focus), shutter would be with opening and closing lens cap.

Anybody here used lenses from Polaroid cameras in home made projects ?
