a friend gave me an expired box of vevlvia 50, but quickload. I dont have a QL holder, so I was wondering if its possible to take the film, remove it from whatever is used to keep the film light tight, and use it in a standard film holder.

thanks

Yes. The film easily "peels" from the two ends that hold it all together in the sheathe. Then you can load 4X5 holders like normal.

No notches, so keep track of the emulsion side!

Actually -- thinking back on Kodak Ready Loads, I don't remember if they have notches or not! Type 55 did not.

Hey destorya, you live in Los Altos, I live in Belmont. I have a Kodak Readyload holder that I would be willing to GIVE to you! Send me PM with a cellphone contact number to make arrangements.

It's been 20 years since I checked, but I remember the Kodak TMX readyloads as regular notched sheet film. Just peeled off. The old Press Pack films from the old days were totally different.
I would recover that lovely Fujichrome and put it in regular holders.

I just last week did this with some Fuji Acros and some Tmax Kodak, and both of those had notches. Easy enough even if they did not, but those had the notches.

Thanks! I got it confused with there not being the "traditional" film rebate when using the ReadyLoader with the film.
