Hello, my Mac Book Pro (El Capitan) and the latest BenQ Pallette Master Elements monitor calibration software refuse to cooperate at all (wont even open the software).

Can someone recommend an alternative way to properly calibrate the BenQ SW271 Monitor without using the BenQ Palette Master Elements software?

Thanks in advance.

If you have the hardware then Diplaycal may work for you. It's open source and is a GUI for ArgylCMS. That is open source, too.

displaycal.net

If it works for you, you can donate to Displaycal, which gets shared with the cms author.

You might need to update the operating system. A lot of programs only work on High Sierra and above now.

If you want simple, then BasicColor display is around $100 if you already have a puck. https://www.basiccolor.de/basiccolor-display-5-en

Like Lantau wrote too, DisplayCal is free. You will have to do a little learning with it though. Install Argyll then DisplayCal.

Hope that helps you.

Thanks for the tips. I updated from El Capitan to Mojave to no avail in regards to being able to install BenQ's palette master Elements.

I would contact BenQ and see if they can help before using a different calibration system. Monitors what come with software, like your Benq, the NEC Spectraview Series, and the Eizo Coloredge series really MUST be calibrated with their own dedicated software. The reason is that the manufacturer's software can adjust the monitor internally, while third-party software makes the adjustments to your computer's video card. Internal adjustments are a lot more accurate.
