How acceptable is the V750-M for 6x7 medium format and large prints?

I was a long time film shooter who converted to digital a couple of years ago. Though I love my 5D2, I recently have gotten into shooting with a Mamiya RB67 medium format camera. Now I need to find a decent scanner. I have a Nikon Coolscan V for my 35mm work that I was doing before, but sadly this won't scan the larger format. So my new scanner really doesn't need to be great at scanning 35mm, just medium format and larger.

I thought about getting the Nikon Coolscan 9000, but those are going for almost 3k on ebay, and I really can't justify that cost. I like printing large (16x20, 24x30, 24x36, or larger) but I also publish photos online at 1024 or 2048 resolution.

So I'm thinking of picking up a V750-M for doing the majority of my scanning, especially for things I want to publish online, and then sending my best negatives/slides out for CS 9000 or drum scanning.

Also, I should mention, I have been lightly contemplating dabbling in large format 4x5 too.

So with all this in mind, does my plan of action sound reasonable for someone who doesn't want to drop $3,000 on a used scanner? Is anyone here doing something similar to this? Also, what size prints can I squeeze out of 6x7 format with a V750? Like I said, I like to print large (mostly landscapes).

For printing large from medium format I am not impressed with my 4870. Resolution wise it's OK for about a 4X to 5X enlargement in my experience. From what I have read the 750 isn't much better. I will also note the Epson seems to do better with color negative over transparencies. I use a drum scanner for any serious scans (which is clearly better even in the under 4X enlargements). I have no experience with the Coolscan 9000, but it should be better than the Epson, but will not do larger than medium format film (at least in one pass).

I haven't experimented with the aftermarket holders for the Epson, but something better than the stock holders is needed. With proper adjustment of height and wet scanning I imagine better output from my 4870 could be achieved. But at that point I'll just drum scan it. So as you look at 750 reviews look to see if you also want to budget for new film holders.

I have seen talk of using 3rd party holders. I was considering doing that along with wet mounting to get the best quality possible.

So far my printing from scans made from my V500 has been limited to 8x10. The scans seem decent but have no idea how well they work out a larger print sizes.

The V750 in my experience is excellent for medium format and larger film sizes. It pays to have a BetterScanning film holder (and set it up right) and good scanning technique.
