I own a 190XB Manfrotto tripod and an 804RC2 head. The head is not working very well, by the fact that I can not move it gently. In fact, I suppose it needs to be cleaned and lubricate. I have never taken it to pieces, so I ask: Do you know how I can dismantle the head?
Thank you,
Henry.

Carefully?

Tripod heads usually rely on concealed screws to keep peoples finger out.
If you have name plates, that's going to be the obvious place to look. sometimes a drop of acetone will loosen the glue enough to pop it off.
You can also use the point of a straight pin to pick tup the edge to remove it.
They bend and scratch REALLY easy.

Thanks, John, for your comment. I am not sure if I should follow your suggestion or if it could be safer (for my tripod) to carry it to a Manfrotto service.

On that head, you could add a single drop of oil to each clamp and see if that helps. Those split casting style clamps get pretty dusty inside.

Thanks, Bob. I have done and it works a little bit better.
Henry.
