Just a shot in the dark here, but...

I have a used Thermolyne Cimarec #1 hot plate/stirrer.

The hot plate function works fine but the stirrer is not working. The little green light is intermittent as you turn the knob and the stirrer motor does not operate. (it worked for a few seconds when I first received it...)

I resoldered the stirrer potentiometer, had some loose solder joints but it didn't change anything.

I'm wondering if the pot was replaced in the past with the wrong spec. Does anyone have one of these units and can tell me the proper spec pot for the stirrer function.

I've Googled until I'm blue in the face but can't find the info...

Thanks!

Paul

I know this sounds silly but did you call Thermolyne/Barnstead? I had an issue with my stirrer/hotplate--a very old model for which parts were no longer available--and they helped me repair it.

JG...thanks!

I just emailed them this afternoon; it was after closing.

I'll call them on Monday...good to know they were helpful!
