Ok, I did see the ER lenses attached to the VH-R in the 1988 catalog (after they discontinued the non-ER lenses). But I wasn't sure how one would fire the shutter but on the next page of the catalog they show someone firing the shutter by reaching around to the lever with their finger.
You may have noticed the guide on the right of the viewfinder assembly? That is for the "Speical" Horseman cable release, it slides in there and you can use your thumb on the plunger. But that cable release won't fit the ER lenses (unless you can remove the solenoid?).
Maybe you have another way of firing those lenses on the VH-R?
