So a couple of tips on the Horseman SW "crash bars" or "lens protectors."
1. If you are short on length for your lens, the SW612 (non-shift) protector can be extended using optical industry standoffs. The diameter is 9mm and the thread is M4. Renishaw in England sells them in 20, 25, and 50mm lengths. That's the only source with a diameter that matches the original. It looks like the other models use M5 connections and maybe a 12mm diameter.
2. In terms of the rubber on the crash bars, it gets stiff and eventually cracks off. I found with my SW612 that if I chipped off all the bad rubber with my fingernail, and removed the rest of the adhered material with acetone, that black rubber tubing from spearguns (3/8" ext, 1/4" int, for a total of 9mm diameter when added to the 6mm AL frame) does a good job. You have to twist it on a bit at a time. You can adhere it at each end with rubber cement, but there is enough inertia and friction that you don't really need to. There is probably something similar for the fatter SW612P and SW617 cages.
