I'm looking for the net size of images made with the Horseman 6x9 and 6x12 roll film holder backs, e.g. are the images made with the 6x9 holder traditional 56x82,5mm or are they 56x90mm?
The net sizes of the chinese DAYI holder are 56x87mm for 6x9 and 56x116mm for 6x12. I am currently torn between the Horseman holders and the DAYI one. I really like the idea of advancing the hilm by a lever and I am afraid of getting hot spots by the hole through with the DAYI holder shows the film advance. But I also really like the idea of getting a bit more than 3:2 side ratio with the DAYI in 6x9 mode + it offers 6x12 for free while the respective Horseman costs an arm and a leg.
Not sure you need to worry so much about that - from examining pictures of it, it looks as though the hole has a sliding cover so that you can leave it covered except for the brief moment while you are advancing the film.

That sounds promising. I was afraid of light leeks because a few months ago, I was on a photo trip with a friend who brought an old 6x9 folder along. We shot a role of Kodak Portra 160 and after developement, we could see some burning-in that seemed to be caused by the frame counter window.
But if there haven't been observed problems, I'll lean towards the DAYI as I really would like to get to shot 6x12 at a reasonable price.
Definitely promising to hear, any other quality issues from the DaYi to report? I'd love a DaYi 617, especially as they're about the same price as a horseman 612 on the 'bay (my logic is that I've got enough 4x5 film that I can just crop to 612, having 617 is a step up though.)
