Will any of the Horseman 6 by 9 roll film backs fit a graflok back?
I see some Horseman backs for the Horseman 970, 980, and VH-R, but it is hard to tell if these cameras have their own type of back mating, or they are graflok standard.

My goal is to have a roll film back with rollers (i.e.for flatter film), so a RH-8 or a something like that would be preferable. Are any of the Horseman backs compatible with graflok's?

Thanks.

No, you need to get one for graflok or often listed as 4x5 or universal back. Here is a link to 6x7 Horseman, same you will see for 6x9 / 6x12. Simply speaking, back is mounted on the universal compatible plate, can't miss the difference.

Wista is same quality at the least BTW. And I still prefer Toyo. Have all 3 brands and to me there is no contest. But al 3 are just as good results wise.

The camera is a 2 by 3 Busch Pressman, that I will be fitting a graflok back to (I know this takes some work). I had read the Mercury camera site on backs, but was still not sure about them, as they changed over the years. It looks like the newer ones, and especially the 2 by 3 format ones, will fit a graflok. It looks like the Horseman 8EX would be a good choice among the Horsemans, now that I have re-read it.

Thanks!

Horseman's first backs will only fit the older Horseman cameras - 970, 980, 985. Not sure about the VH-R's.
Every one I have seen has the lever on the bottom and is grey. These older ones have an extra ridge around the film gate
which serves as an extra light baffle that fits into the back of the 970's, 980's etc. Perfectly good backs otherwise.

Any roll film back that was made to fit graflok will work, and Toyo, Horseman, Wista are the three brands that run in similar price ranges and all are fine well made backs of pretty much identical quality. I like Toyo more due to its overall design and feel, but Wista 6x7 is great back that has served me well too.

On cheaper end Graflex backs are OK, just need to find one that's been overused much and working. Linhof's Rollex backs are some pieces of machinery, but to me too heavy and too much money to pay for social status (although "bargains" do come around).

Witold, I may be mistaken but I believe that jes' plain Rollex and Cine Rollex roll holders are made to attach only to Linhof Technikas, not to cameras with Graflok/International backs. The Super Rollex fits cameras with generic Graflok/International backs.

OP, if you go looking for a Rollex, make sure that it will fit a 2x3 Graflok. They were also made to fit 4x5 Grafloks. I have a 2x3 Super Rollex that fits my 4x5 Cambo's international back. No way will it fit my 2x3 Cambo's international back or my 2x3 Graphics' Graflok backs, the mounting plate is too big.

You maybe right on that. I was considering one to fit my Linhof Kardan Color 45s byt never made it that far.
