I recently started shooting with a Horseman VH 6x9 field camera. I had been doing a lot of research on loupes and what could work for me. The Hoodman Loupe 3.0 came up a little bit but not much. I did read a post several years ago that it worked good for the Horseman (I forget what model the user had but it was 6x9) so I thought I'd give it a shot. One thing I read was with the Hoodriser, it should fit perfectly on a 4" screen. I measured the 6x9 ground glass and it was pretty close to 4 inches.
So I bought the Hoodman Loupe 3.0 and Hoodriser on ebay. I wasn't sure if I bought the correct riser (I saw several different model numbers) but it turns out I did. The model number of the one I bought was Hoodman Hoodriser H-LLP 3.0 Attachment H-R305.
When I tested out the combination of the Hoodman Loupe and Hoodriser, it indeed fit perfectly on the 6x9 ground glass. So much so you do not need a dark cloth at all.
The bad news? Maybe not bad news but the Hoodman Loupe has very little magnification. Maybe 2x, maybe. I feel like this is a good thing though I can see the entire screen clearly with the Hoodman, so I use the Hoodman Loupe to compose my image and do a rough focus. Then use a different, higher power loupe to do my fine focus. All without the need for a dark cloth.
Anyway, I figured I'd give my short summary of this combination.
