While shooting at night recently I managed to lose the lens cap to my Rolleicord Va (Xenar), which uses bay 1 accessories. I didn't realize how much those things sell for! After reading a few posts here on the matter, the consensus seems to be "ditch the cap & use a hood instead". I can see the logic there.

Does anyone have experience with the generic Yashica/Rollei bayonet 1 type shade? They cost quite a bit less that the Rollei variant.

I hate to spend nearly half of what I paid for my Cord just for a hood or cap. I just blew most of my hobby funds on an impulse buy...a Mat124G, an Autocord (model 1) and a box of photo/darkroom books and accessories for $90 combined. (shameless bragging)
