Hong Kong Again, This Time in Color

That street in the first picture and the last is really famous, but the name of it slips me. Do you happen to know what the significance of it is? or is it that its just old? The color works a bit better on with the goldfish picture as they stand out, I wonder if they have to re-bag them every day so they dont die in the bags.

The first picture was taken on Pottingerstreet. It's a pretty famous street because of the steep mountain you are climbing when you walk up the street.

The final picture was taken on Stanley Steet, which intersects with Pottinger. Stanley street is famous for all the photography related shops there.

I was there a lifetime ago when I served in the Royal Marines I was stationed in Whitfield Barracks in Kowloon.

Nice shots. I love Hong Kong. I lived in Kunming, Yunnan from 1996-1998 and would go through HK on my 1-2 trips back home each year. Later when I moved to Beijing (1998-2001) I was in HK about every 6-8 weeks as a few of the main investors of a company I worked for had meetings there. Such a wonderful respite to the mainland, which was quite different back then. Great food, terrific mix of east-west and even a chance to go to Shek O or hike around up in the hills for some relaxation. I miss it a lot and as usual wish I took way more photos when I was there....

Wow...I didnt notice that my thread had been revived. Yes, Hong Kong is a wonderful escape from mainland China. Even today I cherish every chance I can to get down to Hong Kong. The people there are so much nicer, less rude, and cleaner! Sadly, I dont get to Hong Kong more than once a year. Lately Japan has become my new getaway place. The yen has fallen so much that Japan is no longer so expensive anymore.
