I have done some searches here but can't find anything later than 2013. I've just entered the world of Super 8, buying a couple of old cameras. Just wondering what's the latest on home developing of colour and mono reversal film. I do have a couple of old Agfa E6 developing kits which have the potassium bichromate based bleach, but I've also read that some use a permanganate bleach. Is anybody here successfully developing colour and/or mono Super 8? Please let me know your process. Thanks.

Hi Marc, I may ask you to borrow that tank. I've seen some messy looking setups online with people using buckets to process and it doesn't look like fun. I'll keep you posted.

Kevin, I do lots of 16mm B&W reversal in a Lomo Tank so expect should be the same. Worth practicing loading many times with waste film/leader before you use your actual film. Can show you what I do if you are interested. But if you are you'll need to swing by my place before the 8th of Feb.

I am running through a roll of film tonight then again on Saturday after lunch.

I've done a bunch of super 8 and some 16mm in a Lomo tank. I've processed as a negative in Caffenol C and D-76, but I haven't done reversal yet. I do want to try it, so I've purchased the chemicals for this, I just haven't had time to try it out yet.

BLEACH STOCK SOLUTION A
Potassium Permanganate 4 g
Water to make (Distilled) 1 liter

BLEACH STOCK SOLUTION B
Sodium Bisulfate 34.5 g
Water to make (Distilled) 1 liter

METABISULFITE CLEARING BATH
Sodium Metabisulfite 30 g
Water to make 1 liter

This recipe comes from the Photographer's Formulary reversal kit: http://www.freestylephoto.biz/pdf/product_pdfs/formulary/FormularyReversalTmax_010600.pdf

Andy, thanks for the info. I won't get there tonight, but would love to see the process. Will let you know if I can get there before the 8th.

I'm glad you could not come by tonight as I had to get changed and go out again for a social event I was told about last year and since forgot about. Tonights processing put off until tomorrow.

This is the process I use with Fomapan R100 and Kodak Tri-X in super-8:
(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

If you're going to buy a tank, get Lomo UPB-1A: It allows you to process the complete 15 meters of film (even 2 rolls at a time). Most of the other tanks only allow for 10 meters.

In this hasty snap I made of my tank, you can see the reel is about 25cm in diameter!!
