Yes, no one really knows how big that camera is until they unpack it. It's quite a shock. I always felt like I needed to be driving a tiny little car, and wearing big floppy shoes and a red nose when I went out w/ mine. Pulling the film past the film pressure plate was a revelation too. Took a heck of a lot of strength w/ the advance lever.

I stumbled in here looking for something to do after quitting the boring Super Bowl.

Pleasantly surprised to find a group of Fujica 670/690 fans.

I've been collecting and using the interchangeable lens 670s and 690 s for a few years now. I've managed to collect the entire line of cameras, lenses and accessories. It took a world wide search to get it done.

The individual lenses are perfect for my normal subject matter, family and landscapes.

My absolute favorite all around lens is the 100/3.5 AE lens with and without the Auto Up, close up lens accessory. Besides shooting 6X9 AE photos, the Auto Up allows AE focus down to 1.7 feet. Face portraits and spectacular bokeh are simple. ( Not a bunch of MF cameras can take face only portraits !)

The 65 mm lens is about 28mm 35 equivalent. The 50mm is about 21.5mm equivalent. I generally use the 65 for distant landscapes and the 50 for closer landscapes and interiors. I've got some 24"X36" landscapes decorating my walls.

I enjoy shooting 6X9 environmental portraits, particularly of grand kids. Closer shots with bokeh, shoulders and heads are generally 100/3.5AE Auto Up shots. Full body, greater depth of field captures are generally 65/5.6 captures. These easily blow up to 12X18 for wall hanging. I like the proportions of the 6X9. Face only portraits are good with the Auto Up on 6X7.

I tend to use the 150mm and 180mm lenses on tripod for spur of the moment captures from further away.

Anyway, glad I found this group. I hope you enjoy these great cameras and lenses as much as I have.

just an update as I came back from our vacation and I decided to use the GSW690III as my landscape camera.
found out that my 67-77mm step-up ring could permanently stay in the lens and wouldn't block the hood
here's a shot with Velvia 50, f/16, 2min exposure

The GSW690III has the sharpest lens I've used, including the 80mm 2.8 Planar on my Hassy, and the Apos I've used on 4x5. It has a wonderful character, not as razor sharp as the Mamiya 80mm on my (sold) M7
but not as sterile and cold as the M7 lenses. I have several 30x40 inch analog enlargements by Ivey Seright on the walls in my home, the detail is incredible. Now using a GW680III, I prefer the format sa the 690 needs a crop to fit 30x40 paper.

A few images

Here's a couple that I've taken over the last few months with my 690III. I've also just added a GF670 because I liked using the 690 so much.
All of these were developed with my Jobo and scanned with a leafscan 45. All of the techniques were learned here at APUG

Eh, how can it possibly be "the sharpest lens I've used" yet also "not as razor sharp as the Mamiya 80mm on my (sold) M7?"

Agree about the enlarging power of the GSW690 lens. I have several 24 x 36 inch prints on my wall that are just amazing to look at. This camera really spoiled me to the point that 35mm was far less interesting.

I've looked at these before, but it's not clear to me what holds these devices onto the lens hood. The BH ad says that it fits lenses from 3.25 to 3.75, which makes me wonder what kind of grip it has on the lens hood. Any thoughts?

It stretches over the lens like a sock and it won't fall off.
