Well sh--! Now I have to search out a Holga 120pan. Or maybe that Lomography "Bel-air?"

I would go for the Belair. The shots from those look very good and the price is great for that sort of camera, although admittedly they're a lot more than the Pan cameras.

I have the Bel-air. I'll have to see if there is a cable release adapter for it.

I find the lens on the Holgapan 120 very soft on either 1/3rd sides each side. Its only really sharp in the center. The sides are kinda useless unless you like that effect. Its the reason I sold this camera. Some people have bought the Holgapan and modified it using a 4x5 lens on the front.

The softness in the edges/corners is one of the reasons why people use Holga cameras. Anyways, this thread is about the cable release adapter, not optics... 😉

I have all 3, the Holga https://www.plastikcam.com/holga_120_pan.htm, the Belair https://www.plastikcam.com/lomo_belair.htm and a Holgamods Pan https://www.oddcameras.com/holgamods_612_pan.htm. As braxus said, the Holga is very soft. The Belair is much better lens-wise, but there is no cable release option that I know of. The best is the Holgamods Pan, my Angulon lens has a built-in cable thread. Making remarks on the lenses may be off-topic strictly speaking, but may be helpful if you are not decided yet which camera to choose... ;-)

BTW: a glass lens for the Belair would be another option (without cable release). I would like to buy one, but haven't found one in years....

Exactly. That's what LOMOGRAPHY is about. Seems odd that some people buy these "inexpensive" cameras, and then don't like the soft results. Fortunately, they can sell their Holga, Lomo, Superheadz, whatever camera -- and usually get all their money back (assuming it is still in good shape).

Wow you were up early this morning Andy. I would say its more blurry then soft on this camera. I dont mind the results I get off the 120 Holga using 6x6, but this camera is on a whole 'nother level of blurry. Im kinda in between with the Holga. I don't mind slightly soft results, but blurry isnt my cup of tea. Its probably why my Holga 120 sits most of the time. Not that for some shots on that camera, it actually looks ok.

Up at 4am every morning. Have been since school went in... I get what you are saying about blurry... but that is only out in the corners. If I wanted tack sharp images with the Holga 120 Pan, I would probably modify it with a LF lens on the front... But, I love the look I get with the Holga, so that plastic meniscus stays 🙂 I do have a Bel-Air. Not blurry at all, but a tad soft. I also like the fact that it comes with two, interchangeable lenses, and viewfinders. I have to get out with it soon!
See what you guys have done? I've gone off topic... too bad there is no cable release adapter for the Bel-Air! 😄

Andy. Any word where I can get my own Belair 6x12? I see some on Ebay, but way over priced from Japanese sellers no less. That is the camera I really should have bought. Now they are 500 bucks. I'd do a video on it to to followup from the Holgapan, but I'd have to get the Belair first.

I'm just happy that 3d printing is reasonably affordable and that people keep churning out various solutions like the cable release adapter. The Holga 120 pan does have 2 tripod sockets right? Did I see that correctly in the video? Use a thin head thumb screw for the release adapter so you're not trying to anchor 2 devices with one screw? I haven't had my hands on that camera, so grain of salt and all of that.
Sorry for the thread derailment. I also didn't know that the holga 120pan existed.

Yes there are two tripod sockets. The head screw is a great idea. Thanks!

Yes the 3D printing was good enough to support the Holga 120N but I added a secure base to the camera so that the cable adapter would not move of fall off. plus makes it easier to remove from the tripod when the Canon is needed. if the adapter is not secured enough and one mounts a cable to this, it may not be strong enough to actuate the shutter.. Again the extra tripod base plate correct that.
