Its not on their website yet, but saw it in my latest catalog. Weird. Says due in Sept/October:

"The Ideal Film For Your Holga!
Officially approved by the Holga factory, this B&W film emulates the ambiance of the Holga experience. The image quality, grain structure, contrast and spectral sensitivity are all perfectly suited for the surrealistic effects the Holga camera is known for."

So it will be interesting to find out exactly what kind it is. Read what you want into the above description. To me it says "scraps of various kinds gathered and rolled" haha

Seriously, its probably just a high grain 400asa film? Its coming in 400 35mm 24 exp and 120 sizes. $2.69 and $2.99 respectively.

If I use it in a Hasselblad will I get pictures that look like they're done with a Holga?

I'm betting that film manufacturers are under pressure to come up with new cool stuff. This qualifies as cool and will attract photographers who love toy cameras and are new to analog photography. The photo industry, as you may have noticed, is strongly influenced by the internet marketplace where things change fast and new products appear every ten minutes.

If it keeps people shooting film and can even bring some new recruits to the fold, then I think its a good thing. I assume it will be a rebranded film. It just shows how the Holga brand name has progressed and it reminds me of the cameras of years ago when inside the film chamber they had a sticker " use Kodak XXX" or "use Ilford XXX". Now you have a Holga film for a Holga camera, smart marketing.

Like it or not the Holga/Lomo group have pushed film photography to the fore and made it popular with a new generation of users ( I don't want to start a Lomo debate). IMO any increase in the use of film photography is good news.

As regarding the films quality, well lets wait and see.

If you check the lomography website you will see that they sell films at a ridiculous markup. A 36 exp roll of expired E100G for $13. I have to agree, though, this push for these overpriced toy cameras has given film a new life. It will keep film coming for those of us who are trying to use it in a more serious venue. ( My 60+ year old Brownie Target Six-twenty will outperform a new Holga anyday.)

Yes, it comes pre-streaked with light leaks and is guaranteed not to lay flat in the camera.

Hungary is in the EU - maybe it's expired Forte. Otherwise, Maco and Ilford come to mind. Who knows, maybe it's old expired APX film that's been sitting in a storage container in someone's yard

Sounds like branding run amok. Is the film pre-fogged and pre-vignetted for non-Holga shooters? Is there an iPhone "Holga" or "Diana"
app? Just asking...

As for the app, I think there is. As for the film could be old forte, but I'm thinking Foma. Maco is possible too but do they have any 120? Who would do the finishing if they don't?

Just picked up my order from the post office. the stamping of the expiry date, and the film can, both seem to be similar to current Foma production. Interestingly it is a private brand of FS distribution of California. Have not see the developing time recommendation yet. Perhaps this is intended for a different market? It only comes in 24 exposure rolls so far.

Also, since the classic Holga uses 120, why is this film only in 35mm? Strange.
