holder for 120 roll and 220 roll?

i am watching the Bronica cameras on the bay

i notice that some of them come with a 220 back,
is it ok to put 120 roll on a 220 back? :confused:

'cos i probably will use 120 only

You could run 120 throught a 220 back but I would advise against it. Since 220 only has a paper leader and no paper backing the 220 backs are made to have thinner material pass through, so it is a good chance that 120 film could get scratched running it through a 220 back. And it's possible it could jam up.

Which Bronica? With the ETR and I guess SQ the back just holds the film insert. You can replace the 220 insert with a 120 insert. OTOH just inserts aren't much cheaper then whole 120 backs.

I have an SQ-Ai and until recently have only had 220 backs which I ran both 120 and 220 through without any problems at all. The only extra thing i needed to do was to note '120' on the little film info card I stuck in the back so that I would remember to wind it up after my 12th shot. But seriously, no problems with tension and no damaged to the film or (obviously) the film back.

They're hard to come by, are you looking at ETR or SQ? I don't have the original winder on my SQ-Ai and am looking to find one (they're darn near impossible to track down as they have a very specific way of connecting to the body), but the ETR cranks apparently fit the SQs so you shouldn't have too hard of a time. I've seen a few come up on the 'bay', but you might have to end up buying an old 'for repair/parts' body or just buy another body sometime down the line and sell the old one without the crank.

If you can't find a advanced crank, and they are hard to find, just buy a speed grip. The crank is removed to mount the speed grip, thus the lack of crank on some bodies. Speed grips are easy to find.

I bought a whole body with WLF finder to get a crank for a ETRSI. It cost less then buying the spare part :rolleyes:

But like mentioned you can add a grip in it's place.

i am trying to get a GS-1

the price on KEH is very attractive
but because i am in UK...
so i probably end up paying 1.5x of the price for the camera due to the shipping
and the stupid VAT in UK

is there any big different between a leaf shutter like the GS-1 and a focal plane shutter like the S2 :confused:

i mean other than the max. speed and the max. flash sync speed...

if i can found a bargain S2A... i may give up the GS-1, although i like 6x7 more and it also gives me more option...
but i always believe mechanical stuff is more durable than the electronic counter part

The S2a may have a longer life span than a GS-1, but it's already considerably older than the GS-1. I have an S2a system, and I like it, but I also know that it's mechanically an unusually complicated camera, so there are lots of things to go wrong with it, so I wouldn't choose it over a GS-1 on the basis of reliability alone.

Im having the same problem with me RB67. Can i put 120 in a 220 back even though you shouldnt? will it affect focusing and all the images become soft?
