I recently became interested in this subject. The History of Home and Educational image projection follows the same path . The same equipment was used in both areas. It begins in earnest in 1912 with the event of the Edison 22m Home kinetoscope, the Pathe 28mm KOK projector and in 1922 with the Baby Pathe 9.5mm format The respective film libraries were inporatn elements of the area. . The event of 16mm in 1923 ends the early efforts with different film formats and the 16mm area explodes. 35mm Film Strip projector's were also introduced in 1923 and offer a wide field for study and collection.

There were five kinds of projection

Still glass slides - begins a few hundred years ago and creates a long litany of magic lanterns

Opaque Projection - only practical after the event of electricity

Moving image - many different projectors and equipment was produced for home and school use after 1912. Devry, Acme, American Projecting, Holmes, Pathe, Kodak, Bell and Howell, Bausch and Lomb and Spencer Lens were the principle manufacturers.

Film Slide or Strip - begins in 1923

Micro projection - many specialized devices after 1910

I am a collector and there were many associated projectors and cameras produced .I have collected quite a few. It is a fun hobby and the opportunities to
acquire significant items abound. As far as I know there are no collecting guides on the subject but there should be. Happy to discuss any of this with folks interested in the subject.
